| 2007 - 2010 Freelance Design / With a masters degree in Creative Development I set off to work as graphic designer & creative director for Commodore Gaming. After a couple of months of consideration I decided to set up my freelance business in July 2008. My ambition from the start has been to learn what it takes to set up a business and work more independently on projects that I believe in. First clients included: Commodore Gaming, University College Utrecht, Taragalte Festival Morocco and the NWO (Nederlandse organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek). | ExperimentNL / Pretty Nice Shirts / Re:usable / UCU visual identity / Wikiteez / Sahara Roots / Taragalte Festival Morocco 2009 / Commodore Gaming / UCU Lustrum - X / Nettoyage / QQV Magazine 2008 / The Balloon Project / Spaceship / Me and My Sahara | |

2006 - 2007 Masters in Creative Development / After completing my Bachelors in graphic design I went on to study Creative Development at the University of Utrecht (PSAU). During this intensive one-year Masters program I focussed on studying the different ways to direct collaborative creative processes, both from a theoretical and practical point of view. The first project 'Straatbeeld' was a collaboration with Masters students from the media academy (KMT) in Hilversum. The goal was to create an interactive DVD to teach children about graphic design. This was a project initiated by the Museum de Beyerd in Breda (the museum for Graphic Design in the Netherlands). Much of the year I spent taking courses at the University of Utrecht and writing my thesis (We Design), which concentrated on studying the possibilities of collaborative creativity processes. |

2002 - 2006 Art School / After years of studying, painting, creative writing and illustration it was time to make the choice to go to art school and develop a specialization in graphic design. In 2002 I started the graphic design program at the art academy in Utrecht, (HKU) and soon found that this field allowed me to combine many of my creative interests, such as writing, illustration, typography, video and animation. Next to the hectic academic program at art school I made time to work on commercial and cultural design projects. I followed a graphic design internship at EGBG, working with artist Martijn Engelbregt on his project 'de Dienst'. During this period I also worked together with one of my good friends, Ruben van Leer, on animations for NoTV, Elle, Kuyichi as well as designing parts of an exhibition for Aorta Architecture Center in Utrecht. |
